A Prayer on Jesus’ Journey through the Kidron Valley

O beneficent Lord Jesus,
King of all grace and mercy,

who after Your glorious farewell prayer, went with Your dear disciples across the Kidron Valley at the beginning of Your bitter and cruel suffering and death. On this journey, You instructed and warned them of future distress, stumbling, and danger, and furnished them with bountiful comfort. Be also our guide today, for we are caught in such manifold danger and misery, and in this life, we must walk in pure darkness and hardship. Speak to us, who are weak and erring, with Your earnest shepherd’s voice, that no offense, cross, anguish, or need may separate us from You. And as often as we fall, raise us up again through the power of Your Word. Amen.
