The Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ

Mark 16:14–20

Lord Jesus Christ,

through the power and efficacy of Your joyous ascension, we partake of the rich comfort and graces which are brought forth to us through the preaching of Your holy Gospel. For thereby the devil, his power, error, and blasphemy are especially restrained and warded off, by which he seduces the greater part of mankind. Your Word sanctifies our tongues, that we may confess and call upon You, our Redeemer, in faith. All the serpents’ stings and poisonous hypocrisy are revealed and overcome through Your mighty Word. All deadly sicknesses, cross, and grief, which threaten us with destruction, Your believers overcome by the comfort of Your Word and Spirit. So grant that such signs of grace may also be performed in our heart, that we may praise You here in time and there eternally.
