Spiritual Warfare Prayers
“When the devil throws our sins up to us and declares we deserve death and hell, we ought to speak thus: ‘I admit that I deserve death and hell. What of it? Does this mean that I shall be sentenced to eternal damnation? By no means. For I know One who suffered and made a satisfaction in my behalf. His name is Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Where He is, there I shall be also."”
– Martin Luther (from Letters of Spiritual Counsel)
“Nothing helps more powerfully against the devil, the world, the flesh, and all evil thoughts than occupying oneself with God’s Word, having conversations about it, and contemplating it.”

Spiritual warfare is an undeniable aspect of our journey of faith. Yet, in the christian understanding, this battle is met not with fear, but with the confidence found in Christ’s ultimate triumph over all evil. Our prayers and reliance are centered on His finished work and the strength He provides.
Engaging in spiritual warfare, from a christian viewpoint, means turning to the true weapons God has given us: His powerful Word and most blessed sacraments, the shield of faith, and heartfelt prayer. It is through these means that we stand firm against the assaults of the enemy.
